Our Story
Ergi Press is an independent queer publisher with roots in the DIY zine-making tradition. We love cool queer zines but couldn't find much of a niche for LGBTQ+ publishing in the North, so we started up our own press in York - although, now, our operations are UK-wide!
Originally established in York by four students on York St John's Publishing MA, we've expanded our reach more recently as our team have dispersed across the country. But what remains the same, is our dedication to LGBTQ+ creativity and representation within the publishing industry - and especially for those with intersecting identities. As a queer-run magazine, we want to create a space where LGBTQIA+ creatives from across the world can share their work without the fear of judgement and the restrictions of gatekeepers. Our tastes are expansive and bold, fueled by a multitude of work from poetry to prose and everything in between! We love art and photography, fiction and non-fiction, literary or genre, surreal or realist - so if you're a queer creative send in your work! We released our first issue in April of 2022 and our second in Otcober 2022 and we're busy working away at our debut anthology Trickster. |
